View websiteThe Restaurant and Bar Design Awards is the only awards in the world dedicated to the design of food and beverage spaces. This covers every imaginable space, from ships to airports, museums to burger vans, and from revered Michelin-starred establishments to the fleeting dynamism of pop-ups. Last year the awards attracted 860 entries from over 120 different countries around the world.
The Awards attracts the world’s top designers, hospitality operators and judges. Recent names include Zaha Hadid, Kengo Kuma, Tom Dixon, Foster & Partners, Stephen Alden (CEO, Maybourne Hotels), Gordon Ramsay, Tony Chambers (Editor in Chief, Wallpaper*), Alberto Alessi, Thomas Heatherwick and many more.
The Restaurant and Bar Design Awards has been running since 2008, with Core involved as digital partner throughout the six years. It has been our responsibility to oversee all aspects of digital for the awards which has included brand and identity work and the design, build and ongoing support for the Awards website, online application system and online discussion and adjudication process.
Over recent years, taking advantage of our growth into a rounded digital agency, we have also been charged with handling the digital marketing for the awards ceremony, including social media management on the night.
We have overseen the evolution of the RBDA website from its first basic forms into the bespoke multi-functional site it is today, built using the latest in Ruby on Rails development. The main site has a wide range of purposes these days which includes the capability for designers and architects to manage their entries and then for the panel of judges to collaborate and rate entries producing a shortlist. The winners to be revealed on the night of the awards ceremony.
We are also proud to have helped evolve the company’s growth into further areas through our involvement in the building of a custom directory, blog and design week website. These all require expertise from different areas within the Core team, extending from technical development work to more content-driven projects which draw upon our language-based skills. Over recent years we have also extended the digital marketing arm of the awards, delivering a strategic social media management plan to hype the awards night itself.
